Mosaic Events
THE HUB of your church.
Mosaic Events is a self-contained event calendar geared towards church-specific use models. While all plugins that are part of the Mosaic Church Suite (with the exception of Bulletin) are authored to work independently, all work best when Events is present and activated as it serves as the “hub” for the remaining plugins.
Overview
Mosaic Events has the following features bundeled:
- Plugin-specific shortcodes for flexible display on the frontend
- Blocks for the block editor that display both the carousel and full event calendar
- A front-end management form for admins that prefer not to use the Gutenberg editor
While events is the hub of the plugin suite, it is fully functional as a standalone plugin and is not dependent on any of the other Mosaic plugins to work.
Adding events
Using the WordPress Editor
To add a new event, navigate to your admin dashboard and under the “Events” tab click “Add Event”. The event editor has 4 sections:
- The traditional block editor for any event text, descriptions, or additional information
- Schedule and Recurrence
- Details links, and Sign-up
- These are shown on the carousel cards
- External links (shown as buttons) can be added here (external registration, additional information, etc.)
- Embedded forms using a form editor such as Forminator, Fluent Forms
- Note that this is for forms not included in Mosaic Forms (if installed)
- Volunteer Needs & Shifts (only if Mosaic Volunteers is present and activated)
- Quick-add any known volunteer and shift needs, items needed, and due dates. Created shifts and needs are edited in Volunteers
Additional options are available in the sidebar meta including the ability to add to a category, cancel or reschedule an event, or assign forms and registration links (if Forms is installed and activated).
Using the front-end form
The frontend editor exposes the same fields as the original WordPress editor, including the media library picker.

Click on an event to edit. To find a specific event, you can search, filter by category, or filter by date.

The same fields used in the WordPress editor are exposed in the form; however, you cannot add custom blocks or fields on the front-end.
Tips and Tricks for events
- Categories can drive other plugin functionality; for example, adding a “Birthday” category can make it easy to add birthdays to the Bulletin plugin. However, the Honoree field under event details will always display the birthday name on the frontend. If you do not fill out the honoree field for birthdays, no name badge will show.
- Rescheduling an event or cancelling it will show a “toast” on the site and the calendar display if enabled in settings.
- You can skip, move, or cancel a single date in the event editor.
- Media for the carousel looks best at a size of 387×386 pixels
Add an external registration form as an action link
Some events will require external registration (e.g., Resurrection or a vendor-specific registration form). From either the WordPress editor or the frontend editor you would use the “Action link” option to add a hyperlink and a button to that form. Note that the form has to be online; you cannot upload a form to the event editor. If the form is a paper form you will need to upload it first to your church site media library, then add an action link to that uploaded file.
- Open the admin dashboard and under the Media tab click “Add Media File”.
- Upload your document; PDF is suggested for any forms.
- Take note of the file URL (copy to your clipboard)
- In your event scroll to the action links section and hit “Add link”.
- Add a button label (e.g., Registration form) and paste the link into the URL field.
- Save the form.
Integration with Mosaic Forms
If Mosaic forms is installed and activated Events will have an additional set of fields specific to forms. Note that these forms are only the Mosaic standard risk management forms. For a specific form (e.g., a specific external event registration form) you would need to add an ” Action Link” with a direct link to the form.

By default all events require the General Event Participation form. If the event does not have any sign-up required (e.g., a birthday with no registration) it’s fine to leave this checked. If you have an external event registration form, you will be able to add it via an action link and then add it as a required item; this will add it to the tracked forms for the event for the form manager.
Checking the “Show participant registration panel on this event page” will open the “Register/check” section on the event; this will allow participants register and complete required forms directly from the event page.
Event Meta
Some forms (i.e., the Youth Activity Permission form) have fields that will pull from the event if populated. Specifically for the youth form, the meta section for the coordinator details will automatically fill out that section of the form if those fields are filled in.
Event dates, times, and event names are always pre-populated form a linked event.
